Last year 1 in 20 learn direct skills for life enrolments in London came through The Sunrise Academy.
We have helped more than 400 people gain a nationally recognised qualification in numeracy or literacy in the last 12 months alone!
Working to prepare you for work
Sunrise Academy is part of a wide network of learndirect centres across the UK. At the centre, our friendly staff will help you to assess your current
strengths and skills, help you choose the right courses and qualifications and guide you through the whole learning process. They’ll also show you how to write a powerful CV and give you plenty of practical tips to help you stand out during an interview. What’s more there’s all the computer equipment you need to complete your course.
Working to train you for work
All learndirect courses are broken down in to bite-sized chunks so you can learn at a time and pace that suits you. You can do as much or as little as you like during each session so you can plan your learning to fit around your life
and not the other way around.

What will you learn?
- After you have finished the courses you will be able to:
- Understand what employers are looking for
- Know how and where to look for work
- Apply for jobs using CV's and application forms
- Perform well in interviews
- Make decisions about your career
How much will it cost?
If you are eligible the course is free. There will be no charge to you as it is a funded course.
What are the eligibility and ID requirements?
- Over 19 years of age
- In receipt of benefits
- Have resided in UK or EU for the last 3 years
- Hold a British or EU passport, or a passport with visa stating ‘indefinite leave to remain’
- Can produce passport or birth certificate with National Insurance Card
- Can produce proof of address, ie utility bill less than 3 months old.
What will happen when I finish the course?
On completion of your course the Sunrise Academy will work with you and in partnership
with local employers to try to find you a job to match your skills.
